Elisha asked the woman, ‘What do you have in the house?’ She answered: ‘Nothing..except a pot of oil’. Watch what he said; ‘Go & collect vessels from all your neighbours, borrow not a few.’ And as the story goes, the oil kept pouring and pouring and pouring until she was able to start an oil business.[II Kings4:2-7].
A second example: In Exodus4:2 God asked Moses: ‘What is that in your hand’? He said; ‘A rod’. Vs 17 ‘And thou shall take this rod in thine hand wherewith thou shall do signs.’ And that rod was what he used to deliver a nation of thousands of men, women and children from another stronger than them. The rod became a snake to swallow up the magicians’ snakes, was used to part the red sea, was used to bring water from the rock and so many other wonderful acts.
What you have is enough, no matter how little or insignificant it looks. Quit griping and get to work. Everybody is significant, everybody has a role to play. The reason the proverbial grass looks greener on the other side is because its being watered. Water your talent. Water your gifting(s). Don’t despise it. All we have comes from God. And God doesn’t deal in scraps or inferior goods. We are all gold mines waiting to be discovered/explored. You have all you need. Look no further. Just look inwards and upwards. All Moses had was a rod and it was enough.
What do you have in your hand little one? Its more than enough. That writing gift? That singing gift? That counselling gift? Fashion? Shoe making? Business-savvy? There is too much in you for competition or jealousy to arise. Anybody excelling shows they have taken the time to water their garden & trade with their talents. Don’t envy them or try to be like them. No. Get to work on your own calling. Do your bit. Stay in your path.
And we’ll shine & rise together.. For we are one in His Name.
