Should I watch that movie or not?

I have no idea who will read this, but it should go a long way to make you see things that you don’t pay attention to.

Well, one of the strongest ways I’ve realized messages are being passed to humans is through visuals (picture, motion picture, etc). You might have notice that a Facebook post containing pictures gets more engagement than a post with just texts. That is no coincidence. A little boy loves guns because of the kind of cartoon he watches, or feeling he can jump from one part of the house to another to be the hero from the fictional spider man, what of a young lady that expects so much from a man simply because of a movie she watched, or how much we use movies to define what love looks like or should be.

It’s not news that most people tend to prefer watching movies than actually reading book. How many times have you heard this: “come on, I wish they will just turn this book into a movie”, yeah me too at some point until I met some truths.

Let me start off by this example, it was not until the issue of the gay legalization in America took place, did it become even more necessary to have amongst the casts and scenes of their movies (even animations lately), a person playing a gay role.

Most of us haven’t wondered, why it is done, oh I see, you didn’t even notice.  Well it’s simply to make you by default, start accepting the things they show you. Everything is moving so fast that we find ourselves in this unnecessary rush and drive, a girl feeling less of a person simply because she?s not as slim as “Lopez”. What you see doesn’t leave you easily- I call this The Power of Sight”. “The eye is the light of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness” (Matt. 6:22-23).

We have chemistry practical, drama in literature, computer lab in schools for practical, and teachers are encouraged to use image illustrations for effective teaching (check most of your text books, they try to show you what the theory is trying to say).

Research has shown that there is a 70% tendency of rescripting the movie you watched or the things you saw during the day as a dream at night (having a nightmare after a war movie or a sweet dream after watching fairy tale).

Most of us know that back then ( I mean 5-10 years back) what is called Porn(blue movie) wasn’t something you see every where, in fact you’ll have to either order for it or even place special request. You couldn’t just walk into a CD store and purchase one. Oh my, right now it’s everywhere, even hawked. My point for bringing this up is that from the 10 random movies you get to watch today at least 7 has either a sex appealing scene or an actual sex scene, why??? It’s simply to make it a causal issue – make it okay with the consumer (you) over time.

Recent Studies from U.S. News and World Report, reported that teens who watch sex on TV are more likely to start having intercourse.

Why is it “likely”? Because what these movies does is to just push the idea to us.

Some of us have never imagined that it will even be a consideration to watch blue movies, but they’ve found a way to show it to us, just a short clip, few seconds in the romantic movie, leaving you with disgust at first, the next movie leaves you with consideration and subsequently practical work.

I know of folks that have been saved through movies so it has its positive sides, especially when used right but I’m not dwelling on that because overtime it has showed to be more negative than positive.

For young people, still trying to define your life, spend more time investing in books, messages and most importantly your bible. If it becomes extremely compulsory (can’t think of when it will be) that you watch a movie, do a serious background check on it, cause once it goes in, it begins to build in you, you keep seeing it over and over again, you keep seeing yourself in that scenario, the truth is flushing such images out takes God. You can also make commitments like David that “I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes” (Ps. 101:3).

The “Wicked” David spoke about is the same thing Joseph said when Portiphar’s wife tried to sleep with him “how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God”.

I sincerely pray that God should raise young folks with streams of ideas and skill to write scripts that will leave the viewers craving for God and his word, when we talk of taking over, it doesn’t stop at music and events, come on, can we have a Tyler Perry in Nigeria? Or better greater than he.

I do not condemn Movies; I’m just showing you what you didn’t know it does to you and show you the need to guard your heart with all diligence. I pray and hope that this truth brings about a change.

Didn't know I could write, until he started writing through me. So if there be no God there be no me..letting the gate of truth open to as many as can read
